The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) is a semi-autonomous agency of the Tanzanian government responsible for the administration of central government taxes and several non-tax revenues. The TRA is currently implementing its Sixth Corporate Plan (CP6: 2022/23 – 2026/27) with a vision of being a “trusted revenue administration for socio-economic development” and a mission of “making it easy to pay tax and enhance compliance for sustainable development.”

The TRA has set ambitious targets for tax revenue projections, with a projected increase from TZS 20,667.91 billion in 2021/22 to TZS 31,921.0 billion in 2026/27, representing a compounded annual growth rate of approximately 9.1 percent during the period of the plan. The tax revenue yield is also expected to increase from 12.9 percent in 2021/22 to 14.1 percent in 2026/27.
